Humanity is running out of power. Literally. Elon Musk now claims Earth’s energy grid can’t survive the coming AI surge — and that the only way to save our technological future is to abandon the planet. Space, he warns, will soon be the only place cheap enough to host super-intelligent machines. In 36 months, he says, the center of AI power will shif…
Elon Musk is no longer just talking about rockets and electric cars; he is warning that Earth itself is becoming too small for the intelligence we are building. In his view, the real AI bottleneck isn’t algorithms, it’s electricity — and our grids are already straining. Doubling national power output, he argues, is far harder than most people dare to imagine, turning each new data center into a quiet political and environmental flashpoint.
His answer is as audacious as it is unsettling: move the brains of our machines into orbit. Space-based solar, basking in constant sunlight, could feed vast AI platforms without the need for batteries, weather forecasts, or public approval hearings. If Musk is right, the most advanced minds humanity ever creates won’t live in our cities or our clouds, but in silent constellations above us, thinking in the dark while Earth watches from below.
